California Fire Captain Remains in Serious Condition
A state fire captain remains in serious condition after she was injured when a building partially collapsed in the Sierra foothills community of Copperopolis, Calif.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Monday that Capt. Sue Arrouzet, who is 45, is expected to be transferred from Doctors Medical Center in Modesto to a San Francisco hospital to continue her recovery.
Her crew was helping local firefighters with a house fire late Friday in the community of Copperopolis, about 85 miles southeast of Sacramento.
Arrouzet, a 22-year veteran of the department who lives in Tracy, was injured when the house partly collapsed. Two other firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
The department says the incident is being investigated.
