Winds Destroy at Least 4 Homes Northern California
Winds are being blamed for the destruction of at least four homes in Northern California, where gusts of up to 70 mph have toppled trees and left thousands without power.
Santa Cruz County was hit particularly hard. Three homes there were crushed by falling trees on Thursday.
A day earlier, hundreds of homes and businesses in Scotts Valley lost power after a transmission line was destroyed. Customers in Boulder Creek, Bonny Doon, Watsonville, Corralitos and Freedom were also without power.
Pacific Gas &Electric Co. officials tell The Santa Cruz Sentinel the vast majority of customers should have power restored on Friday.
Meanwhile, The Reporter of Vacaville reports that winds knocked down a home under construction in Vacaville on Wednesday.
No one was hurt in any of the home incidents.
