Investigators Suspect Arson in California Fire
Investigators believe arson was the cause of a fire that nearly destroyed a house in Pasadena before spreading to vegetation along a nearby freeway.
Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department says Saturday’s blaze caused some $800,000 worth of damage to the large two-story home.
Three adults in the house escaped without injury and are being sheltered Sunday by the Red Cross.
Derderian says investigators are looking into whether a fire along the 210 Freeway was started by embers from the burning house, or if it was sparked separately.
Crews had the flames knocked down 20 minutes after their arrival.
A firefighter was treated at a hospital after injuring his wrist in a fall while fighting the blaze.
