San Diego County Hospitals Settle Dumping Lawsuits
Two California hospitals will pay about $375,000 to settle lawsuits claiming they illegally dumped blood, needles and other medical waste in a landfill.
The San Diego County district attorney’s office on Wednesday announced settlements with Scripps Health and Sharp Memorial Hospital.
The DA’s office alleged that they unlawfully handled, transported and disposed of the waste at the Miramar landfill. Some of the alleged violations date back to 2007.
