Wyoming Air National Guard Practices Aerial Firefighting
The Wyoming Air National Guard is practicing fighting wildfires from the sky.
Guard members plan to conduct training flights at the Camp Guernsey Training Center on Wednesday and will drop water to the ground in a fire exercise.
The Wyoming Air National Guard is one of four military units in the country that is equipped with a system that allows its C-13 cargo planes to drop 3,000 gallons of fire retardant at a time. Last year, the unit was called to fight fires in Texas, Oregon and Idaho.
