Fire Destroys 8-Unit Washington Apartment Building
Barbecue briquettes that were left too close to combustible materials are suspected of starting the fire that destroyed an eight-unit apartment building and damaging two apartments in another building in Sunnyside, Wash.
The Tri-City Herald reports it took 25 firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control early Sunday and another several hours to extinguish it in strong winds.
Sunnyside received help from firefighters in Grandview, Granger, Prosser, and Benton and Yakima County fire districts.
