University of Wyoming Professor Wins Award for Cloud-Seeding Research
A professor in the University of Wyoming Department of Atmospheric Science has been recognized for his cloud-seeding research.
Bart Geerts recently won the first-ever National Institutes for Water Resources Program IMPACT Award.
The award recognizes the nation’s best federal research projects funded by the Water Resources Research Act.
Geerts says the award shows there’s renewed interest in cloud seeding to enhance precipitation and improve water availability.
Cloud seeding is a process in which silver iodide is released into the clouds to help stimulate precipitation.
