Yellowstone Conducts Vehicle Safety Checks
Commercial buses and trucks traveling through Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park this summer may be subjected to safety checks.
The inspections are designed to ensure the safe operation and mechanical soundness of such vehicles on Yellowstone’s roadways. They are done to help protect visitors, park employees and park resources from potential accidents.
Both the vehicle and the driver are evaluated in order to ensure full compliance with federal regulations that govern commercial vehicle operation.
This is the 14th year of the inspection program, which are conducted by park rangers and state and federal transportation officials.
Violations can result in either a commercial vehicle or a commercial driver being taken off the road.
