New Drivers Would Have to Know Rail Safety
New drivers would have to know the safety rules involving railroad crossings under a legislative resolution that urges Utah officials to expand the driver’s license tests.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Utah House gave final approval for the resolution Tuesday.
The sponsor, Sen. Karen Mayne of West Valley City, cites an increase in accidents involving motor vehicles and light-rail, commuter rail and freight trains.
The Utah Transit Authority says collisions with light-rail and commuter trains caused 13 fatalities and 26 injuries in the past two years.
