RV Dragging Metal Blamed for 7 Montana Grass Fires

April 30, 2013

Authorities in northwest Montana say a recreational vehicle dragging a piece of metal sparked seven grass fires that drew seven firefighting agencies and two law enforcement agencies.

The Daily Inter Lake reports that the grass fires started about 5:30 p.m. Friday totaled about 50 acres along Helena Flats Road and that no structures were damaged.

Fire crews quickly had the fires under control and were mopping up by about 6:30 p.m.

Evergreen Fire Chief Craig Williams says the white recreational vehicle that might have started the fires hasn’t been located.
