Family of Bicyclist Killed in San Francisco Files Suit

September 5, 2013

The family of a 24-year-old woman hit by a truck and killed while riding her bike in San Francisco, Calif., has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Bay Area food distributor and its truck driver.

KGO-TV reports the initial police report blamed Amelie Le Moullac for the Aug. 14 crash on Folsom Street. But after a bicycle advocate tracked down a surveillance video from a nearby business, police changed the report to say the truck driver was at fault.

The suit filed Tuesday names Milpitas-based Daylight Foods the driver, 45-year-old Gilberto Alcantar.

No criminal charges have been filed. Police Chief Greg Suhr said last week the case would be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office but KGO says that hasn’t happened yet.

The food company and the driver have not commented.
