2 Critically Burned When Arizona House Explodes
Two people are hospitalized after being critically burned when a fiery explosion blew up and gutted what was left of their house in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria.
Peoria Fire Department officials are trying to determine what caused the Wednesday night blast in a residential neighborhood.
Officials with Southwest Gas are also investigating. Crews turned off the gas to nearby homes.
Fire Capt. Rob Brewster says the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
Neighbors said they heard and felt a loud explosion and saw two people running from the home with burn injuries.
Fire Chief Bobby Ruiz says one of the victims is a man in his 30s and that the other is a woman in her 20s.
Both have burns over about half of their bodies.
