Chiropractor Repays Washington $89,000 After Fake Billing
The Washington Department of Labor and Industries says it has collected nearly $89,000 from a Vancouver chiropractor after accusing his clinic of fraudulent billing.
Dr. Lucas Homer owns Cascade Park Sports Medicine and Rehab. The clinic contracted with Labor and Industries to provide therapeutic massage, physical therapy and chiropractic services to injured workers receiving workers compensation benefits.
An investigation revealed that the clinic had improperly billed the department $88,846 for hundreds of appointments from 2009 to 2011. In some cases, it billed on days other than the actual appointment. In others, it claimed services had been provided by an certified therapist when they had actually been provided by uncertified employees.
The company pleaded guilty in Thurston County District Court to one count of attempted second-degree theft.
