Free Sandbags Provided to Colorado Flood and Fire Victims
Larimer County is working with nonprofit disaster relief workers to provide free sand bags to residents who have been affected by forest fires and erosion flooding over the past two years.
Project spokeswoman Kari Stewart says spring flooding is expected in areas that were hit hard.
There is no limit on the number of bags people can claim and people do not have to prove the extent of damage they suffered.
Multiple flash floods struck last summer in or near scars left by the High Park fire, which burned more than 136 square miles, killing one person and destroying nearly 260 homes west of Fort Collins.
