Arizona Dealership Sold 2 Recalled Cars
An automobile dealership in Surprise, Ariz., sold and delivered two recalled cars last year before repairs were made, but officials say the vehicles were fixed shortly afterward.
Dealer Operator Jerry Moore told The Arizona Republic that the May 6, 2013 recall order was a safety recall, not a stop-delivery recall.
But from now on, Moore says the Sands Chevrolet dealerships in Surprise and Glendale will make safety remedies to all recalled cars before selling them.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it’s investigating whether Sands Chevrolet sold and delivered at least one new vehicle to a first purchaser without having remedied safety defects.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits dealers from selling new cars that are subject to a recall unless the recall remedy has been performed.
