2012 Lower North Fork Fire Victims to get $18M in Compensation
Victims of a 2012 Colorado wildfire started by the state will receive about $18 million in liability payments with a bill that’s been signed into law.
The legislation signed into law Friday by Gov. John Hickenlooper identifies nearly two dozen parties with outstanding claims from the Lower North Fork Fire. The fire near Conifer grew out of a prescribed burn, making the state liable for damages.
The wildfire killed three people and burned two dozen homes.
