Tucson Strip Mall Drywall Falls Injuring 3
Three people were slightly injured after being struck by drywall that fell from a ceiling at a Tucson, Ariz., strip mall.
Northwest Fire District officials say four people were waiting for their appointments about 2 p.m. Monday at the Arizona Department of Economic Security, which has offices at the shopping center.
The four were in a breezeway where a large piece of drywall fell and hit them.
Two people were treated at the scene and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
A third person was treated and released and the fourth person denied injury.
Marana building officials believe that a wind gust may have brought air into the roof vents, causing the drywall to break free and fall.
Fire officials say recent rains have been ruled out as a cause.
