Idaho Mom Files $1M Claim for Toddler Injured During Police Incident

December 10, 2014

The mother of an 18-month-old girl who was allegedly injured during an incident with Lewiston police officers seeks $1 million from the Idaho city.

The attorney who filed the tort claim told the Lewiston Tribune that the toddler suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when her father landed on her after officers used a stun gun to subdue him Nov. 8.

The claim alleges negligence and recklessness on the part of Lewiston officers. Attorney Noel Pitner says the actions went “above and beyond their duties and procedures.”

Lewiston City Clerk Kari Ravencroft says the city’s insurance carrier will look into the validity of the claim.

The girl’s father was arrested and has a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
