Fire Damages Central California Fruit Packinghouse
Part of Central California fruit packinghouse and about one million bins used to store oranges have been destroyed by fire.
KFSN reports that the fire at the Golden State Citrus Packinghouse in the San Joaquin Valley started before 9 p.m. Tuesday. The packinghouse is owned and operated by Sunkist.
No injuries have been reported.
About 45 workers in the building at the time were evacuated and sent home.
It was not immediately known Wednesday morning when the fire would be out.
No actual oranges were burned in the fire. The blaze has already destroyed about 2,000 pallets and two storage buildings.
