Co-founder of Global Insurance Provider Dies at Age 89
(Washington D.C.) – Clements International regrets to announce the passing of co-founder Robert S. Clements. Clements, a lawyer and insurance executive, will be remembered as a pioneer in the field of global insurance.
In 1947, Robert noticed a growing need for international insurance for Americans and Canadians working and living abroad. Along with
co-founder M. Juanita Guess, Clements used his entrepreneurial drive and innovation to challenge the industry and create the first global insurance agency. His ideas and culture set the foundation for the company’s continued success today.
Jon Clements, CEO & Chairman, and Patience Clements, a member of the Board of Directors, remain active with the company.
“‘Mr. Clements’ was a vanguard.” said Tony Palumbo, President and Chief Operating Officer “His creativity and forethought led to the creation of international insurance plans, which continue to provide coverage to expatriates in over 170 countries.”
A memorial service for Robert S. Clements will be held in Fredericksburg, Virginia on the 14th of May. Messages of condolence may be sent to Clements International and will be shared with the family.
Clements International continues as a leading innovator of international insurance programs, as it has for over 60 years.
