Agent Arrested for Reportedly Stealing Refund Checks
New York Superintendent of Insurance Gregory Serio announced the arrest of Carol Evans, an agent formerly employed by the Walter Will Agency based in West Winfield, N.Y. Evans is accused of grand larceny for allegedly stealing numerous refund checks issued to policyholders of Farm Family Insurance.
The investigation revealed that the checks sent to the Walter Will Agency, an agent of Farm Family Insurance Company, were supposed to be forwarded to the Agency’s clients. From Oct. 1998 through April 2001 it is believed that Evans allegedly took approximately 150 checks totaling $21,220.
Evans was arraigned in the Village of West Winfield Local Criminal Court.
