BCBSRI Selects Perot Systems to Manage Operations

Perot Systems Corporation announced that Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has selected Perot Systems to manage the health plan’s technology and business process operations.

Under the arrangement, Perot Systems will provide transformational services that will include deployment of their DIAMOND® Enterprise technology and assumption of responsibility for delivery of several business functions, including cash disbursements, claims, document services, information technology, mail support services and membership administration functions. The DIAMOND® Enterprise software system supports healthcare organizations’ efforts to take information and transaction capabilities beyond traditional claims processing.

The 10-year arrangement between BCBSRI and Perot Systems, with an estimated contract value of at least $450 million, is subject to ongoing negotiations.

Approximately 600 BCBSRI employees will be offered positions with Perot Systems, and would transfer to the company later this year. The remaining employees will stay with BCBSRI.
