Syracuse Mother Arrested on Fraud Charges
New York Superintendent of Insurance Gregory Serio announced the arrest of Diane R. Royal, 39 of Syracuse, for allegedly providing UnumProvident Corporation with fraudulent information regarding her disability leave to obtain additional benefits.
It is alleged that Royal submitted a fraudulent statement to UnumProvident Corporation with a forged signature of a local physician who she reported to be the physician who delivered her baby when in fact this was not the case. Royal also falsely reported the date of the birth of her child in order to reportedly receive additional benefits.
An investigation by the Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau and the Syracuse Police Department has resulted in the arrest of Royal for criminal possession of a forged instrument, falsifying business records and insurance fraud.
