Long Island’s Nassau County Gets New Flood Maps
New and updated digital flood maps will provide Long Island residents with a realistic assessment of flood risk.
The preliminary maps are developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. They replace current maps based on data that is 20 to 30 years old.
A series of “open houses” will be held to explain the maps and advise residents of their flood zone designation and answer questions about the National Flood Insurance Program.
