Police Investigating Spate of Fatal Skydiving Accidents in Virginia
Police are investigating a second fatal skydiving accident at the same airport in Virginia in less than two months.
State Police spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler says 40-year-old April Haag was injured in a jump at the Orange County Airport Saturday and died a day later.
Tyler says Haag was tandem jumping with 44-year-old Douglas Zelbey and they had “a hard landing.” He would not elaborate.
A hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday that Zelbey is in fair condition.
On Sept. 23, a man died a day after he collided with another skydiver during a jump at the airport about 70 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
