New York City Construction Worker Injured by Concrete
A construction worker is in critical condition after concrete fell on him as he worked in a pit at New York City’s Times Square.
The worker was taken to Jacobi Hospital after the early accident Thursday morning in rainy, slippery weather. Fire officials say concrete apparently fell on the man from a building under construction, but it wasn’t clear where he was working when he was injured. The man was working 11 Times Square at 42nd Street at Eighth Avenue. Deputy Fire Chief Steve Morelli says the pit was murky with a lot of mud and water that made for a difficult rescue.
The pit is apparently going to be an entrance to a subway. The building under construction is a 35-story office tower.
The worker’s name wasn’t released.
