Maine Ferry Company Fire Investigated
Officials are investigating a Christmas morning fire that destroyed a storage building at a private ferry company in Port Clyde.
Firefighters from four communities were called to Monhegan Boat Line at about 6 a.m. Thursday. St. George Fire Chief Tim Polky said neighbors reported hearing a series of explosions at the time of the blaze.
Polky said the building was used as a workshop and storage area. The fire claimed a forklift, tools, a backhoe and other items, but no boats were damaged.
Monhegan Boat Line offers private passenger and freight service to Monhegan Island.
