Falling Ice Hits Child in Parked Car in New Hampshire
An 11-month-old infant inside a parked car outside a Salem, New Hampshire mall was hurt when ice smashed through the windshield.
The injury happened on Christmas Eve morning when warmer temperatures caused melting ice and snow to fall from the roof of the Macy’s store at the Rockingham Park Mall.
The child was sitting in the back seat of a car parked in the fire lane outside the store, and was cut in the face by either broken glass or ice as it came through the car’s back window.
The child’s mother was also in the car when the ice struck it, but she was not hurt.
The baby was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
Crews immediately went onto the mall’s roof to clear any remaining snow and ice.
