Plan to Rebuild Steeple Market on Hold
The owner of Steeple Market says insurance delays are blocking his plans to rebuild the Fairfax, Vermont landmark that was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve.
The town lost its largest store and a primary community gathering spot when an apparent electrical fire destroyed the market, which is housed in a former church.
Owner Pierre Menard told the Burlington Free Press he has obtained town permits to rebuild, but says he’s gotten nowhere with insurance companies and needs a settlement before he can begin the work.
