Northern Maine Storm Declared Tornado
The National Weather Service has made it official that it was a tornado that roared through the northern Maine town of Eagle Lake last weekend, shearing off and uprooting hundreds of trees in its path.
Following a survey of the damage, a weather service team from Caribou determined that the tornado had a rating of EF1 with maximum wind speeds of up to 110 mph. The tornado came down at 2:15 p.m. Sunday and cut a path that was more than 3 miles long and up to 200 yards wide.
Nobody was injured, but the weather service says an out building was destroyed, a transport trailer was overturned and several homes and vehicles sustained damages.
