New Hampshire Man Admits Setting 2 Fires in Maine
A New Hampshire man has pleaded guilty to setting two fires in Maine including one that destroyed a building with 26 businesses in Yarmouth.
Twenty-nine-year-old Everett Stickney of Brentwood, N.H., pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Portland to two counts of arson and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Prosecutors say he burglarized and set fire to a business complex in York the night after he allegedly did the same thing on Jan. 2 on U.S. Route 1 in Yarmouth. Police linked Stickney to the crime through evidence including surveillance videos and DNA evidence from a cigarette butt.
He faces up to 20 years in prison for each arson count. No sentencing date has been set.
