Vermont School Sues over Asbestos Work
The Montpelier, Vermont School District is suing a flooring company for damages that it says it incurred from the company’s mishandling of an asbestos cleanup at the Main Street Middle School last summer.
The Barre Montpelier Times Argus is reporting that the district hopes to recover at least $88,000.
South Burlington attorney David Bond says the company, Morrison-Clark, Inc. of South Barre, which removed asbestos tile from the school, will deny any liability in the case.
He says no asbestos contamination was found but a state health inspector observed activities that he thought were in violation of Vermont’s asbestos control rules. Bond says the company disagrees with that interpretation.
