New York City Concrete-Testing Probe Expands
Manhattan prosecutors have expanded their investigation of fraud in the concrete-testing industry.
Authorities have searched the Bronx offices of Casa Redimix Concrete Corp. It supplies concrete to large public works projects.
Casa is supplying concrete for the $612 million replacement of the Willis Avenue Bridge. A lawyer for Casa said the company had done nothing wrong and defended its work.
Last month, Stallone Testing Labs and its lab director were indicted on fraud charges. The laboratory has been hired to verify the strength of concrete at major construction projects.
Also, Testwell Laboratories and several of its officers have been indicted on racketeering charges.
The defendants have pleaded not guilty.
