Flagging at Construction Sites a Growing Business in Delaware
More Delawareans are being trained at traffic flaggers’ school to learn how to manage traffic at construction sites.
And Delaware Department of Transportation spokesman Mike Williams says more are needed because of substantial stimulus funding for construction and road projects.
Flagger School Executive Director Harry Roosevelt said 170 flaggers were trained in August, including the 24 practicing their skills near Prices Corner Tuesday.
More than 10,000 have been trained nationwide this year. Delaware pays about $21 an hour; while private companies often pay $10 to $15 per hour.
