Hannaford, Sweetbay Spring Rolls May Have Shrimp
Hannaford supermarkets in the Northeast and Sweetbay supermarkets in Florida are removing some spring rolls from their freezer cases because they may contain shrimp.
Hannaford says there have been two customer reports in Maine and two in Florida that Taste of Inspirations Vegetable Spring Rolls contain shrimp, which isn’t listed as an ingredient.
Hannaford spokesman Michael Norton says no illnesses have been reported, but people with an allergy or sensitivity to shellfish risk serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat products containing shrimp.
Hannaford has stores in Maine, Mass., New York, New Hamsphire and Vermont.
Norton says the manufacturer, Original Rangoon in Needham, Mass., is in the process of reporting the matter to the Food and Drug Administration.
