New Jersey Gets Disaster Aid for November Storm Damage
President Barack Obama has issued a disaster declaration and ordered federal aid to help repair damage in New Jersey shore communities affected by the November nor’easter.
Beaches and dunes were heavily damaged by the powerful storm system born from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida.
Last week’s declaration makes federal funding available to local governments and certain nonprofit agencies in Atlantic, Cape May and Ocean counties.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said additional designations may be made if the state requests them and further damage assessments support the request.
