West Pennsylvania Couple Sues Target over Toy Box Injury
A suburban Pittsburgh couple is suing Target, claiming their daughter sustained a brain injury when a toy box lid fell on her.
Eric and Laura Surman, of Cranberry, claim 2-year-old Camryn Surman had her air supply cut off when the wicker box lid fell on her on July 20. She’s in a persistent vegetative state.
The suit filed Monday in Allegheny County court says the trunk should have been equipped with a lid support or a warning stating it isn’t suitable for children or poses a suffocation risk
Their attorney, John Gismondi, says Target removed the trunk and two similar ones since the incident.
The suit seeks money to cover Camryn’s medical expenses and punitive damages.
Target didn’t respond to a message seeking comment.
