Maryland Fire Marshal Investigates Repeated Arsons
The Maryland fire marshal is investigating two arson fires at an abandoned lumber yard in Sharptown.
The two fires last month happened between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the former J.V. Wells lumber yard. In the first one, two sheds completely burned. The second blaze flattened a large garage and sent dozens of firefighters from at least five companies to the scene.
The property has often been vandalized since J.V. Wells left in the mid-2000s. State fire officials are concerned that trespassers could be hurt.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Matt Stevens says authorities don’t have any suspects.
