Connecticut Town’s Only Business Destroyed by Fire
A fire has destroyed the only business in the town of Hartland, Connecticut.
Fire Marshal Peter Sevetz said volunteer firefighters Thursday arrived to Cugino’s Restaurant and found fire in the walls around the three central fireplaces.
Firefighters began tearing into the wall to get at the fire while at the same time calling for assistance from firefighters in West Hartland, Granby, Barkhamsted and Granville, Mass.
Sevetz described damage as moderate in the main dining area and minor on the second floor and said the restaurant will have to be closed until repairs are made.
Sevetz said hot embers or sparks had gotten behind paneling next to the fireplace.
The small, Northwest Connecticut town is located 30 miles southwest of Springfield, Mass.
