New York Meat Maker Recalls Bologna Products
A federal agency says an upstate New York meat manufacturer is recalling about 3,000 pounds of bologna products that may be contaminated with bacteria.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Wednesday that Zweigle’s Inc. in Rochester is recalling cases containing two 10-pound packages of “Price Chopper German Brand Bologna Made With Pork & Chicken.”
The maker of hot dogs, sausages and deli products said the bologna products were packaged on Jan. 7 and each package has the establishment number “EST. 5333” within the USDA mark of inspection.
It said a smokehouse malfunction created the potential production of staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin, which can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramping.
The agency said it has received no reports of illnesses linked to the bologna.
