Former Adjuster to Plead Guilty in Rhode Island
An ex-insurance adjuster is set to plead guilty to charges he helped a former Rhode Island radio personality file a phony insurance claim for more than $40,000.
Federal prosecutors say Vincent DiPaolo of Johnston will plead guilty to conspiracy and four counts of mail fraud on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Providence. He is the last of four defendants to plead guilty in connection to the scheme.
Prosecutors say DiPaolo helped ex-radio personality Lori Sergiacomi file an insurance claim after two other defendants intentionally damaged her North Providence home. Prosecutors say her home was damaged in the historic 2010 floods, but Sergiacomi did not have flood insurance. Her insurance claim blamed damage on a fictitious wind and rain storm.
Prosecutors say they will recommend a lesser sentence for DiPaolo.
