Police: Pennsylvania Jeweler Dragged by Car After Theft
Police say a northeastern Pennsylvania man was injured when he was dragged by a car while trying to chase down a man who swiped jewelry from his store.
The Times-Tribune of Scranton reports 48-year-old Mark Altier sustained minor injuries after he grabbed on to the sport utility vehicle the man jumped into after fleeing with more than $5,000 in jewelry.
Investigators say the man entered Altier Jewelers around closing time Wednesday and asked to see several necklaces and a ring.
The Times-Tribune report says the man he darted for the door while wearing the jewelry and Altier chased him down and tried to pull him from the vehicle. Authorities say the female driver sped off, dragging Altier until he lost his grip.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
