Ex-Rhode Island Insurance Adjuster Awaits Sentencing
A former Rhode Island insurance adjuster is set to learn how long he will have to stay in prison for his role in $40,000 home insurance fraud.
Vincent DiPaolo of Johnston faces up to 85 years in prison after pleading guilty in August to conspiracy and four counts of mail fraud. A U.S. District Court judge in Providence is scheduled to sentence him Wednesday.
Authorities say the 62-year–old helped a former radio personality file a bogus home insurance claim last year.
DiPaolo wants a judge to sentence him to three years of probation, including up to four months in a halfway house and up to four months in home confinement. Prosecutors want him to spend a year in prison, saying his insurance adjuster background should count against DiPaolo.
