Former Vermont Firefighter Pleads Guilty to Arson
A former Vermont fire captain has pleaded guilty to setting his wife’s home on fire to get enough insurance money for a medical procedure to allow her to become pregnant.
Ralph Brown pleaded guilty to second-degree arson last week and was sentenced to one to five years in prison. The state agreed to reduce a first-degree arson charge and drop related charges.
Authorities say the 43-year old set his wife’s home on fire in February 2010 twice to try and collect insurance money.
No one was hurt.
