Wires Fall on New York School Bus When Truck Hits Pole
Authorities say a man has died after his pickup truck hit a utility pole outside Syracuse, N.Y., causing power lines to fall onto a school bus. Two children and two other people on the bus weren’t hurt.
State police tell local media outlets that the crash happened around 8:40 a.m. Monday in the town of Clay, just north of Syracuse. Troopers say the truck left the road, smashed a sign for an apartment complex and sheared off a utility pole before ending up in a ditch.
Police say live power wires fell onto a bus headed to a Liverpool elementary school. Troopers took two students, the driver and an aide from the bus.
The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police are investigating what caused the accident.
