Several Hundred Hogs Perish in Pennsylvania Barn Fire
Fire officials say several hundred hogs died in a central Pennsylvania barn fire.
The fire Monday at a Lancaster County livestock barn could see damages of $1 million or more.
Reinholds Fire Chief Kent Reich says about 400 hogs had been rescued from the remains of the barn by Monday night, but the barn had housed 1,400 hogs. Among the animals rescued were a few dozen 10-day-old piglets.
Officials say it took about four hours to get the blaze under control.
Farm manager Lori Stone says the fire has taken an emotional toll.
The animals and barn were insured.
