Police: Arrest Made in Pennsylvania Church Fire

April 6, 2012

Police have charged a woman with setting the fire that damaged a central Pennsylvania church being rented out for classes by the local school district.

Lebanon police say Sandra Jones set the fire that damaged Calvary Chapel on Monday morning. She was initially interviewed at the scene as a witness but investigators say they later determined she was a suspect.

Jones was arrested Tuesday night in Harrisburg on charges of arson and reckless burning.

Police Chief Daniel Wright says police don’t yet have a motive but it doesn’t appear the fire was specifically targeting the church or Lebanon School District, which is using the building for ninth-grade classes while the high school undergoes renovations.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Jones.
