Maryland Inspections Find Safety Defects in 101 Trucks
Maryland State Police say 101 commercial vehicles were placed out of service because major safety defects were found during an enforcement effort on the Capital Beltway.
Tuesday’s Roadcheck 2013 also led to 19 drivers being pulled off the road because they were not qualified to operate commercial vehicles. Law enforcers issued 181 traffic citations and 284 warnings for commercial vehicle related violations.
The operation used overhead road signs to direct commercial trucks and buses into a temporary inspection zone at Fed Ex Field in Landover. Inspectors examined 525 vehicles.
Troopers say similar operations will be conducted throughout the state.
