Arson Ruled at Former Mack Trucks Building in Pennsylvania

Fire officials in Allentown, Pa., say last week’s blaze at a former Mack Trucks building was intentionally set.

Allentown Fire Department Assistant Chief Lee Laubach told The Express-Times on Tuesday that investigators determined an accelerant was used to set the fire Thursday night.

Laubach said the fire caused about $25,000 damage to the 393,000-square-foot building, which is now vacant but previously served as the Lehigh Valley’s first Mack Trucks plant.

Later, the facility was home to the Fuller Co. and, after that, Allentown Metal Works.

The Allentown Commercial and Industrial Development Authority is the property’s current owner. Laubach said trespassers have been a problem at the building.
