Pepco Donates Smoke Alarms to Maryland County
Pepco is donating smoke alarms to Maryland fire officials in Prince George’s County.
The donated alarms are being presented to county officials on Tuesday afternoon at the fire services building in Hyattsville.
The fire department says Pepco’s donations allow the department to install smoke alarms for residents free of charge.
The giveaway will help residents comply with a new law requiring a smoke alarm upgrade. The law says residents with a 9-volt battery powered alarm must upgrade by January 2015 to a new tamper-proof alarm designed to provide protection for up to 10 years.
